Fremont, CA: To adapt to shifting consumer habits, increase your online conversion rate, and optimize your earnings, you should implement conversion optimization trends. ChatGPT and other machine learning techniques are not far behind, since half of the sites under study have some kind of automated chatbot. When deployed (and educated!) well, these chatbots can anticipate and respond to the most common questions from customers, while also removing barriers to purchase and speaking in a brand style and tone. An AI chatbot should not, however, completely replace your customer support staff. Our advice is to create a chatbot that can answer simple inquiries from clients and is aware of when to direct them to a live person.

Several third-party payment options have been available for quite some time (and remain popular). There is, however, a different third-party payment option gaining popularity in 2023: the buy-now-pay-later option.
We reviewed 40 eCommerce sites, and 40 percent offered "pay over time" options. Considering new Gen Z shoppers are much less likely to use traditional credit, and that their spending with BNPL arrangements has grown by 330 percent since the pandemic started, it may seem like a small percentage, but keep in mind that new Gen Z shoppers are much less likely to buy with traditional credit.
Therefore, we recommend ecommerce brands add these non-traditional credit options to their sites to increase conversion rates, especially among this growing demographic.
Free Shipping (With or Without a Threshold)
Online shoppers today expect some degree of free and fast delivery from online stores as a result of Amazon Prime. Most of the studied sites (90 percent) provide free shipping in some form, but most of those sites (60 percent) require a minimum order amount.
Show rooming Features
Over the past few years, show rooming features, which provide product information to compensate for the inability of shoppers to physically see and touch products, have become increasingly popular on ecommerce sites. 70 percent of the brands we studied currently use them.
Potential buyers are also assured of strong social proof since these details are often based on individual customer reviews.
Brand Apps
70 percent of the study sites still offer branded apps for iOS and Android devices, even though none of them promote them on their desktop sites. It is typically only worth your time and effort to create and market an app if your business boasts a high rate of repeat customers and loyal visitors. You can remarket to your customers in a way that's different from your typical e-mail remarketing by getting them to download your app.
